So where are the actual save game files? Every time I delete them from the game menu, when I restart the game, the save games are back. Using Win 10, I've gone into users/name/appdata//local/divinity 2/savegames. I deleted the .dxg files I wanted, but the saved games are back. Thanks for any replies. Got a bunch of snow dumped here in Chicago, good day for games.

Do you use GOG Galaxy? I suspect that your problem is caused by cloud syncing and you have to remove the saves from the cloud.
