Hello,

Just a quick query, does anyone know why the first two and the most recent game works on mac but not Divinity 2?

And do you think we will see it one day? I don't mind moving over to the windows machine but... meh I'm lazy ;)

(plus the mac has a better spec)

Just install Win7/8 (your choice) to your Mac via Bootcamp (I'm assuming that Apple supports Windows 8 at present with Bootcamp--if not, then Windows 7 is fine but a bit more difficult to find these days)...I know you're "lazy"...;)...but the obvious benefit is that you will not be limited to OS X supporting the comparatively small number of games that it does--not to mention that most of the Mac games are ports from the original Windows/D3d games to OS X/OpenGL anyway (Valve says that Apple's OS X is now up to rough par with version 3.2 of the Windows OpenGL API, which would be fine except for the fact that Windows OpenGL is now at version 4.2 +.)

If your Mac PC has a better spec than your presumably older non-OS X PC, then I'd think this would be the ticket for you. Either way, you'll have to support two environments if you run Windows & OS X. Good luck!

Sorry didn't say but my windows machine is a "bootcamped" imac.

I'm not looking to install windows on my laptop as that's already dual boot linux and don't particularly want to partition it off more. Plus it seems like a lot of hassle for one game.

Thanks for the advice though, it's probably what I'll have to do, install it on the desktop.

The first 2 are old enough to get working with Wine and packaged up to play on Mac; the latest is using a new game engine, which Larian ported to Mac, so they could do a native version. Divinity 2 uses a modified version of the Gamebryo engine; I don't know how hard that may be to get working in Wine (I'm pretty sure someone posted a guide here some time ago, but I couldn't find it when I tried recently), and utilizes PhysX (which I believe can cause problems).
Here an example of wine port for mac:

It's most always a lot easier to start from a wine port base already done. Then in case of problem check the forum section at bottom of the port. And eventually you can use this base to adapt it to your config.

Use Gog ability of 30 day money back guarantee. Buy the game then try asap see what you get with the wine port. Than you can decide if you keep the game or not.

That said in my opinion, It's a solid RPG but even Divine Divinity is more interesting despite it has more weaknesses.

The 30 day money back guarantee does not apply to failing to get the game running on an unsupported OS.

Mmm that wasn't clear at all some time ago, I see that any mention is now cautiously removed from the site, lol. I'm not surprised they was very ambiguous before.

Thanks to pinpoint it, before their com was pure lie, I know, always read the small unreadable characters, but it's not something I would expect from gog. That said it's past and any mention is now removed from the site.
