Ok I really like this game but as I have seen a lot of others say the Survivor build leaves a lot to be desired. First of all there are hardly any daggers in the game so far. I've played to level to 12 now and I've basically only seen a couple worth using with the max damage only being 31. The trap skill has 2 useless traps and one overpowered trap that is basically a gamebreaker exploit. From what I understand the poison weapon skill is also borderline OP and somewhat of a gamebreaker. Does anyone have any tips for someone trying to play a non-exploiting Survivor build? I have mixed in some Warrior skills such as augment damage and the skills that add elemental damage but my guy is still really weak and gets owned everywhere unless it's a few wasps. I'm really just thinking about starting over as a mage or warrior build.

The Larian forum topic sorta new, got a quick question contains some information on playing survivors.

There is only one unique dagger consistently in the game, with a limited opportunity to get.

Poison Weapon can be effective, but not against all opponents (good against orcs, not so much with spiders or undead, for example). I think the overpowered part was mostly using it on a bow, where IIRC the poison effect can be triggered even if the shot misses.

The Stun skill is also helpful for melee builds. With my warrior I didn't bother with the elemental damage skills because at low levels they don't get triggered very often, and by the time I was a high enough character level to boost the skills more, I didn't need the extra damage. Of course, using a weapon with a lower base damage would make those skills more useful (even with Assassin's Kiss maxed, a good dagger isn't going to beat the damage rate of a good sword).

Thanks Raze I reviewed that whole thread and tried to ignore some of the spoilers the best I could. I'm going to stick with it a bit since I already have a fair amount of time put into my survivor. I'm just having a hard time with every quest no matter where I go. I'm going to play around with poison weapon some and some other skills.
Raze is poison weapon OP in your opinion or a legit skill that a survivor build should have? It is so powerful against Orcs...at level 11 I can kill the War Drummers in like 7 seconds. Without poison weapon I cannot kill them at all that's a huge buff and difference in offensive power. Scorpion trap is definitely op so I don't even use it.

I started a survivor archer, but then got sidetracked near the end of the catacombs and never got back to continue with that character. I don't recall many complaints that Poison Weapon is overpowered when used on a melee weapon (and then only in connection with the warrior's spin attack), but If you try it and find that it is too OP for you, you can simply stop using the skill (or reload if it is a quick decision). Without trying it myself, though, I'd say it is a legitimate skill to use with a dagger.

With my warrior, when I first left Aleroth I couldn't kill the orc drummers, either (they healed faster than I could do damage), so I had to leave them. Shortly after crossing the bridge into the farmlands, however, I met the traveling merchant on the path to the cursed abbey, and bought a better sword (higher damage and with a Stun bonus). Returning to the Aleroth area, I could then easily kill the orc drummers.

The female characters are different than male characters, that must be quoted. I didn't tried all six but most and in my opinion the more fun for the fights is the female mage character because it allows more finesse and diversity in the fights. The both warriors have too basic fighting that tend feel quickly repetitive. And the two rogue characters seems more difficult to play.

Same here...at first very frustrating. But after my warrior did some leveling up and I applied the right points in the right skills, and picked up poison and fire for my very expensive and powerful sword...I dispatched them easily. Satisfying, that. I think it would be a bore to be able to kill everything easily. But even now I'm trying to figure out a strategy to kill the demon(?) in Ghostchurch (as I call it) just west of I Forget Where. It's fun. I'll die some more, but eventually I will prevail...:D
