Hi!
Divine divinity seems to be quite unstable under windows 7 (64 bit). I now save often so i can continiue but i have reached one point i can't get past. It's the quest where im supposed to recruit Mardaneus to the human counsil. I meet Demona and a couple of seconds after she exits the house the game crashes.
My speq:
ASUS Mainboard S-AM2+ AMD780G ATX VGA(512) PCI-E Audio GbLAN Raid VGA/HDMI Retail (M4A78 PRO) - This mainboard has a integrated ATI RADEON 3200 card.
AMD PHENOM II X4 940 3.0GHZ Quad core.
- I have updated video drivers
- turned off uac
- running on one core(start /affinity 1 div.exe, from cmd)
- toyed with different DEP-settings, default and adding div.exe to exception list.
- reinstalled game
- disabled antivirus/firewall
I don't know what else to try. Could this be a windows 7 problem? or 64-bit issues?
Edit: It seems to be directly related to demona. If i escape and use a teleporter i can continiue the game. It crashes when she attacks me.

There are more incompatibilities with Windows vista 64bit than 32bit. Some games would not work at all in Vista 64bit especially older titles. Game developers for newer titles tend to make their titles with 64bit operating systems in mind, but the whole idea of 64bit is still relatively new. I imagine if Vista 64bit had major incompatbilities(and it still does), then also Windows 7 would have similar problems. I can't help you to solve the problem , but I would suggest taking your Windows 7 install disc and installing the 32bit version with a clean install. You can always revert back to 64bit when more updates and fixes have been released.
Yeah, well im not too entusiastic about dual booting to 32-bit as i have 8 gb ram and like to use it :)
Im kinda curious too hear if im the only one with this problem, and how gog handles patching. Can we submit bugs to them that they fix?, do they have the sourcecode to games?, can they forward our requests to the original developers in this case larian? It just seems that one of the points of using gog is to be able to play old games on newer os and 64bit is the future. To be able to do that I guess several games needs to be patched (when not using dosbox or similar), and everyone know that fixing things can also mean breaking other stuff.
The fact that this crash occurs when demona attacks me makes me think of a scripting error of some sort but i could be wrong.
Anwyay. I'll wait a couple of days and see if anyone else has this problem and then I guess i have to try to dualboot with xp. I already tried it with vmware workstation 7 but it didnt work :(

Can you send a savegame just before this happens? Send to info at larian dot com so we can check if it's hardware or not? If we can reproduce it, it's not your computer.
I have been playing Divine Divinity using WIndows XP. When I began the game, over the course of a few hours, it only crashed about four times. As I progressed and reached higher levels, it would sometimes crash every few minutes. I tried everything that I've seen recommended here and elsewhere (downloading updated drivers, reinstalling the game, turning off AV software, etc) but it seems that certain creatures, like Demona, the Lizard Mage, and one of the Orc bosses, still make it crash every time I encounter them.
This is very irritating considering that I have purchased several other games through GOG which work flawlessly.
I really am at a loss now for what to do, and my lack computer knowledge isn't helping.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
I'm also having the same problems under windows 7 and would like to play the game there. But I see that guys with xp are having also problems and crashes. I also have triple boot, seven, vista 64 and xp 32 and I'll try to play it using xp, but would like to see this game playable under windows 7 64.
Good news. I installed dd out o x86 under windows seven 64 and the problems disapeared and I played about one hour without crashes or sound issues, even without using compatibility.
