Does this game run "well" (I mean smooth & enjoyable, not merely playable) on a netbook ?
I'm planning to buy this game out of reviews on GOG and wanted to now if the requirements meets an average netbook.

My specs are : 2GB Ram @1.66GHz on Windows XP

DD runs great on XP but some netbooks have some grapics problems. Most can be worked out.

The main problem with netbooks occurs when your vertical screen resolution is 600 or less. If your vertical screen res is 800 or greater this is not a problem. I refer you to this thread for a discussion about the problem. In short, DD has two menu sets, one for resolution at or under 800 x 600 and one for resolutions above. If your horizontal res is greater than 800 the game defaults to the 1024 menus which causes menu clipping if your vertical res is 600 or less.

Edit: If you have 600 or less vertical res, you can still play but you will have to play at 800 x 600 res.

Exactly. I was about to reffer to this post (having searched half the forum for "netbook").

I always play game on lower def on a small screen - mine being a native 1024x600 - so I'm glad to hear I still have the choice of resolution.

Just a last question regarding the hdd space the game actually takes : the installer is labelled 1.6GB so I expect the game to be at least ~2.5 Gigs. Am I right ? It's just that on a netbook, space is rather scarce, so...

Ok then, I"ll set the res on 800x600 (I guess 640x480 would be too much). Thanks for all the infos, Buying it now !

I play at 1280 x 1024 or 800 x 600 (the games release res I believe). The higher resolutions make the characters and text way too small IMHO. If I were you I would play at 800 x 600 as the 640 x 480 look really bad.

You're welcome, DD is lots of fun, one of my favorite hack and slash games. Like Diablo but better IMHO. Good story and music, took me over 60 hrs to finish it . . . =)

Edit: I should mention again that you will need to play at 800 x 600 or less to avoid the clipping.
