Earlier tonight I entered the Dwarven Halls and looked around and eventually noticed that an NPC named "Baldrox the Strong" was following me around. Apparently he's meant to be a vendor near the forge but for whatever reason he has some sort of crush on me and wont stop following my character. Unfortunately I didn't notice his presence until after quicksaving twice so I can't simply load an old save (my last real save is from quite a while ago).

I didn't really mind him being there (monsters occasionally attack him, he stands there ignoring them) until I came back to the Dwarven Halls a few minutes ago. Whenever I approach the forge (where he's meant to be) he initiates conversation with me (just saying his normal line about how Grischa can fix anything) and when I exit out its as if I'm waiting for an event to happen (no UI, loss of control, etc.). I tried letting it sit for a few minutes but it didn't seem to help.

I'm not really sure of what to do at this point, I'm unable to talk to Grischa because of it and I want to get the Dragon Armor set. I could try to get him killed as it seems as if he isn't linked to any quests (please correct me if I'm wrong) though it'd be quite difficult as it seems as if he has quite a bit of HP (ran through all the traps in the castle treasure room with him and he's still >60% HP).

Any help would be appreciated, he's starting to creep me out :(
Got an answer on the Larian forums and I'm trying out some fixes.

edit: Problem solved.

This seems to be an unusual problem. Would you be kind enough to post the fix for others that may encounter this situation? Thanks . . . =)
I ended up just killing him with poison cloud, was the easiest method as he isn't linked to any quests (just a vendor with crappy loot).
I just had this same issue happen to me, and after some experimentation, I think I know the underlying cause.

Baldrox is supposed to follow you around the forge, and stop following you once you leave. He'll then greet you again when you re-enter the forge. However, he'll only quit following you if you leave the forge from the eastern pathway, NOT if you leave from the portal stone to the south. With the mess of islands and portals in the Dwarven Halls, it's easy to never pass the "stop-following-me-line" on that eastern path until much later, if ever.

If he's already following you around out in the world at large, it's probably necessary to get him killed one way or another. To prevent the bug from happening at all though, just avoid the forge portal stone (and its twin) like the plague.

Strange case. I did not encounter that problem
