As the title...

EDIT: Solved it. They appear when you go up to two Source, to show on-screen how much Source each party member has! Sorry for wasting your time!

What I'd like to know is why some summons have them (even if they absorb source, they can't use it) and why does Delorus (you may meet him in the dungeons of Ft Joy and, if he survives, later again), a magister, have source absorbing capability as sourcerors are their enemy.

They can unlock source skills. For example, the Cursed Electric Infusion Spell Book (from crafting) will give an incarnate Closed Circuit, which requires source (and Electric Discharge, which does not).
