I liked the first Original Sin, and I liked the sequel as well. But the ending of OS:2 fell apart for me. I'm curious how others took the ending, so I'm going to outline my issues.

Obviously, massive spoilers ahead.

Problem one: the enemy plan is fundamentally flawed
So the Seven tear a hole in the veil made of source and use that source to create the mortal races. Then the gods feed on mortals' source. Lucian and Dallis want to take all the source and fix the hole.

If there is a finite amount of source, and it all has to go into fixing the veil, doesn't that mean stripping every mortal of their source? How is anyone going to survive this? Or, if mortals create little bits of source during their lives (as is suggested by the gods feeding on them), then shouldn't there be plenty of source in the world to close the veil without stealing it from every sourcer?

And how do they know how to fix the veil in the first place? And can't the God King just tear a new hole?

Problem two: the endings can't math
Seven gods and one divine. Yet I have to fight my party members to the death? Max party size is four- why aren't we all becoming gods if we all want it? Yeah, I get that it's a big deal to have the player take out their own party (or their friend if playing co-op), but it is very not enjoyable for the player who realizes there is no actual reason to kill the friends they've fought alongside for so long.

Problem three: there are no gods
There were gods, and the divine represented them as something like an avatar. After all the gods are dead, how is it even possible for anybody to become a divine? Wouldn't they instead become a god? Is this just semantics, or am I right and the distinction is kind of really important?

There are other problems, the worst of which is that the game completely ignored my chosen ending (I killed Dallis, Windego, and Lucian, and I purged the world and fixed the veil- yet the epilogue has Dallis and Lucian alive and leading the world, and Windego is somehow back despite me consuming her source). But the above three problems are pretty big plot holes to me. What do you guys think?
I'm curious what they'll change around in Arx with the new enhanced release this summer.

For what it's worth I've had very similar issues with the ending, killed everybody for what they did and sucked up Windego's source, yet the endings don't care for that choice at all.

Then I experienced the fight for ascension in co-op, which was utterly stupid since the chars just weren't built to fight each other. Ended up giving it to the last man standing from the bossfight, but the decision didn't feel like it mattered, just annoying.

The endless explanations what happened to characters I barely remembered were also slow and felt forced.

Honestly these points irked me more than general plot holes in terms of source and god counts, because I find it rather easy to take a convoluted story like that and enjoy what I get instead of poking at the inconsistencies. Not so much with the parts that directly relate to my ingame choices and the general feeling that the ending undoes the whole game. Stopping Lucian and Dallis is never really an option.

//e honestly, should've played Fane and nuked the whole place :D
