Divinity Original Sin II Definitive Edition is operating under the misapprehension that two controllers are simultaneously connected to my system.

I am using the Switch Pro Controller, but by default, the game mistakes the buttons A and B for each other, and X and Y for each other, presumably trying to mimic the XBox controller's incorrent face button arrangement. Therefore, I used WiinUPro to correct this malignant behavior, but unfortunately, the issue has metastasized into the game assuming there are two controllers connected when there is one controller connected. This fluffs things up terribly when there are multiple party members, because on most button presses, the game wants to create a new profile and enter local multiplayer mode.

Is there some way to gently explain to the game the storied history of the arrangement of face buttons and the saving graces of superior ergonomics, all while excising its delusions of phantom game controllers?

Too difficult, didn't education: Game thinks there are two controllers when there aren't and assumes I'm using an XBox controller when I ain't.
