Hello,

I have the following issue: The game doesn't launch with my one (or two) gamepad(s) plugged into the PC. The gamepads are properly recognized by Win 10 and other games. I can start the game with the pads unplugged, but as soon as I plug one in, the game instantly shuts down, like I had pressed AltF4.

What am I doing wrong? Reinstalled DOS2, mod-free, reinstalled gamepad drivers, restarted machine, deleted respective Documents folder, to no avail. The game creates a crash dump every time.

Without gamepad support, split screen coop is impossible, which was the reason to preorder this game in the first place.

The issue has been adressed, but so far unanswered (hello dear larian support raze :) ) in the steam forums.

Help would be most appreciated! The game in singleplayer is fantastic and bug free so far.

EDIT: There is no error message, the game just doesn't start. In bin, d3dcompiler_47.dll is created temporarily. The crash dump can be posted, but is hella long. System is GTX 770. i5 4670K, 8 RAM, 500 SSD, Win10 Pro.

This question / problem has been solved by Dazdigoimage
You wouldn't happen to have another PC with an earlier Windows version on it, right? Because this sounds like it could be a Windows 10 issue. Are there any configurations settings that could be causing the issue?

What game pad are you using? Are you using any special gamepad remapping program?

I do not have any issues with my Xbox one controller. I do have a few other console controllers that I can try testing with to see if I can recreate this issue.

I have the same issue, with a wired X360 controller. Plugged in, game fails to start, generating an error for XBCDR.dll; unplugged, all is well.
Thank you for your concern. The following was the problem for me: I had used PS4 controllers (gamepads, even with some Xbox remapping software) which apparently aren't supported by the game and prevent it from launching entirely instead of giving out an Error message. I retried launching the game with a standard XBOX 360 Controller, pressed (A) on the start screen and everything worked like a charm - the game autodetected the original Microsoft controllers without further drivers in spite of the PC running Win10.

Sorry for the guy trying it with the original controller... best of luck to you!

<< I would like Larian to implement said Error message and an Add/Recognize Controllers option in Options.

That's quite odd. I have my Dualshock 4 plugged in - though I use KB&M - and it works fine. It might be the software itself - you no longer need any additional software for the DS4 to work with a PC.
