Maybe I'm just dumb but are you really not able to save your progress on this game?! I can't even get past the first level.. If i can't save this game I'll just end up playing the first level over and over again. Help! :(

Do what I did.
This, and the other Disney classics available here, were made in a time which a game having no saving options was something normal. So yeah, you're supposed to beat the whole game in one sit, praying to not get a game breaking bug.
I downloaded DOSBox SVN Daum, which allows you to save/load state. I'm so glad someone created this!

And this great guide tells you how to use DOSBox Daum in gog games:

Enjoy, OP. =)

The idea of these older platform games is that you keep practicing the earlier levels until you are able to progress. You'll want to practice the early levels anyways because the later levels only get harder. The second half of the second level requires split second timing (the part where you're on the back of an ostrich), and the levels get much harder following that.
Wow, this game is difficult. But yes, after a while, you can beat the earlier levels on an auto-pilot.

I've just beaten the waterfall level. That was something else.I don't think I have ever played a more challenging level. But I feel damn proud about it!!
