I'm interested, but I'd like to know more about how the game is actually run. Is is just running in a free emulator? Did they actually do any porting work? The answer probably won't keep me from buying it, but I just want to understand what I'd be getting. GOG is kinda bad about claiming they've "meticulously updated [the game] to be compatible with modern operating systems" when all they really did was slap an emulator on it and call it a day (I'm looking at you, Redneck Rampage).

Just booted it up myself. It appears to be the DOS version of the game running in Dosbox. So in short, yes it is essentially an emulator.
I cannot download this using the GoG Downloader. It just sits there, paused, and never starts.

I can download it the regular way, and Galaxy installs it correctly, but I just thought you'd like to know that the GoG Downloader link doesn't work.

They always use DOSBox or ScummVM for DOS games. Your choice if that's a dealbreaker, of course.

Oh, a standard DOS release. From some of the hype in the news post I got the impression that this was some of port to Windows. While there's nothing wrong with sticking it in DOSbox, it's undeserving of the phrase "meticulously updated". Nothing has been updated. :P
I'm surprised it's a DOS version, in that I didn't know that there ever were DOS ports of these games. But I'm not surprised in that GOG loves to claim they "updated" the games when all they did was slap DOSBox under it. Not that it's a bad thing, strictly speaking, and it's a great way to get an old game you can't otherwise buy.

They did that to me very early on with Redneck Rampage. They made a big deal about how they'd updated it to work with modern systems, and it turns out it was just using DOSBox. Since I still had my original Redneck Rampage CDs, that had no value for me. And so this is why I ask this question if I'm not sure.
The DOS version of this game was the first videogame I won.
