Hello,

I installed today (dec 29th, 2022) the GOG version of Dishonored 2 (key received for free by Amazon Prime Gaming).

Installation works without any problem, but when clicking start in GOG Galaxy v2.x the game won't launch.
The button in GOG is changing for a short moment to running, then showing two times synchronizing and then it is coming back to start wíthout any further message.

Rebooting the PC doesn't help and also not to let GOG verifing the gamefiles.

Is there any logging somewhere so I coud check what's going wrong? Or does anyone have another Idea?

My system is running with Windows 11, nvidia GTX 1080 and all drivers are up tp date.

Thanks in advance for trying to help.

regards
Michael

Try launching the game using its own executable, without Galaxy running, and see if you get some error message.
Anyway setting the game to run as administrator might help, especially if you installed it in a system protected directory such as "Program Files" (which is not a good idea by the way).

Hi Dr. Schliemann,

thanks for trying to help. But starting as admin doesn't change anything and it's not installed in a protected windows folder. When starting the dishonored2.exe drectly i receive an error message. See attached file.

and it makes no difference to have it installed online or offline.

update:
all tips related to this error message from the internet haven't changed anything. Error is still popping up.

OK, I think a have here a game I can't start. Thanks god, I've nothing paid for :)

This is a generic error and it doesn't help me identifying the cause of the problem.
Maybe your antivirus or some other software is interfering with the game somehow: try disabling all unnecessary software running in the background.

Tried all that things before this post and now again:

- stopped all background programs
- stopped as much system-processes as possible
- stopped virus (Defender) and firewall (MS Win11)
- Windows 11 started it in windows safe mode

always the same error

I think, now it's enough. I won't install windows completly new because of this game only. That's for me not worth atm.

Thanks really a lot for your help.

means you have the same problem I have?
Ok.

So, I just got this game myself from Amazon Games giveaway. I registered the code and downloaded the game without any issues....but I digress.

The issue for me was Identical. The fix was to Disable my APU VGA device.

I have an A10-5700K with an AMD APU. I also have an NVIDIA 1660. Recently I was playing with both of them together.

So, it appears you have to ASSIGN the VGA device to the GAME or disable the CPU VGA device to remove the confusion.

After a simple Device Manger disable of the AMD APU, the game loaded and ran.

For me it's not working in that way (deactivating APU). Same issue as before. I have an Intel with a 630 APU and a nvidia GTX 1080. Made a reboot and let GoG check the files.

Same here, I have a laptop with a GTX 1060 and the Intel UHD 630. After some time playing I either get a black screen or a frozen frame and have to powrcycle. Other games run fine. I'm on Win 11 22H2 with latest NVidia bulkware.

Update: If you have an NVidia card, make sure the Shader cache is large enough in the NV control panel, which cuts down initial load time.

The other one is to add " +com_showLoadingScreen 0" to the command line arguments to skip the intros :P

Just purely doesn't launch on my system. Not even the Game Pass version. Can't find any solutions online.

Same exact problem, disabling APU didn't work.
Installing to a different folder didn't work.
Running as Admin didn't work either.
