Some of the DLC in Dishonored is lame. Specifically having so many Bone Charms in Corvo's room kind of defeats the purpose of searching for Bone Charms and purchasing upgrades.

Is there any way to disable this DLC apart from just pretending not to notice the Bone Charms are in your room and there is no good reason to purchase upgrades since you can just pick up the artifacts in your bedroom instead?

You want to disable / remove content? Is this a serious thread?
I mean - it's a valid point, cause the DLC he means are just early power ups, cash and bone charm slots that give you a bit of edge at the start but are just this - buffing player before he even begins.

It was the same kind of thing with Saints Row the third, they enabled the time saver dlc meaning almost everything unlocked just for starting the game. It basically defeated the point of playing the game as a lot of the unlocks were OP. For that game they provided a patch which would disable it.

Asking the question about the bone charms is legit but one workable option is simply not to pick them up

That's what I was thinking.

I think there are really 2 cases one in which you can just avoid activating something & the other in which things happen beyond your means to stop.

TBH though both do make me think GOG need to at least think about how to mange dlc better. Steam lets you disable dlc on a case by case basis which Galaxy lets you do, but they too haven't got anything in place for GOTY editions.

The obvious case that comes to mind is Morrowind on all stores as it is sold as GOTY with all dlc. The Tribunial dlc means you are hunted almost straight away by difficult asssassins which if you kill & loot means you get armor far better than you should at the start of the game. Arugably it is game breaking or emersion breaking and yet nobody did anything about it. For all their sins at least with many Bethesda games you can simply disable the module loading till you are further in the game, most games don't provide any kind of manager like that.

Most users don't have the skills or the patients to go thorugh the config files and really not having to frig with old games is part of the selling point of buying from GOG.

That's not a great solution though is it? Its annoying to see them there.

I should be able to manage DLC as I like. Not all DLC is good. These are basically cheat codes that are always activated.

Omg, it's more in-game content! How annoying!

Make a feature request in the GOG Galaxy forum if you want this function added to the GOG library.

Its also a question of not knowing which content is supposed to be there and which is designed as an optional cheat.

When the "cheat" DLC is activated how does a first time player of a game know that certain objects are not to be touched if you want a balanced game as they were not designed to be part of the base game and the game was balanced for someone who didnt have this DLC.

I just want to play the game as its meant to be played, not read a guide of how to play it level by level before I start.

deargdoom: It is annoying. I dont want to play the game in cheat mode. I shouldnt have to know that some items are not meant to be there and that you should avoid them if you want a balanced game.

I dont want to have to figure out why I am so overpowered in early levels and then realise after researching it that Bethesada tried to reward people who preordered with lame cheat items.

Loads of games have these lame DLC items. They are never good and never make sense in the game. They always make the game worse. The game is designed to be played without them. I never want them installed. There should be an option to uninstall any DLC that you dont like.

I honestly assumed there was such an option and that someone would point out what I missed. I am surprised that there isnt. Im really surprised people see mandatory cheat modes as more in game content.
Because it IS more in-game content? If you don't want it, don't use it. It's that simple.

Loads of games do have OP DLC items. There's a legendary sword in Assassin's Creed Odyssey iirc that makes any other swords you acquire pointless for a warrior build. I stored it on the Adrestia & never used it. Deus Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut gives you all the pre-order bonuses once you've completed the tutorial mission in the factory; one is a super OP shotgun. Saints Row 3 & 4 give you all the pre-order costumes & skins after finishing the tutorial levels, and I have to sit there like an idiot clicking "Accept" over and over again until the queue is cleared.

My point is that I get what you're saying. But I'd MUCH rather have the content than not. Do I want to dress up like a panda in Saints Row 4? No. But if wanted to, it's there, in my wardrobe, not bothering anybody.

Like I said, make a feature request to have this added to the functions & features of the GOG library & and Galaxy client. Until that happens, maybe you should play on Steam - which does allow you to disable the installation of the DLC for Dishonored.

Sure, if people want to use it why not.

Isnt it sad though that that the best solution you have is to repurchase on Steam and play there.

To be fair I have the base game with no expansions there already. Thats the only reason I know that the OP items arent supposed to be there.

By the time GOG develop support for DLC management Ill no longer be interested in replaying the game.

I will request it though. Its a fair suggestion.
Might I make a suggestion for now.

If I'm not mistaken, all 3 games bought seperately only add up to $24.47 (USD) and Complete Collection is $23.99 (USD).

So that's only a $0.48 difference from the Complete Collection. So if you don't mind the small hit in the purchase price, maybe that's the way to go for now?

If this option works for you, maybe you can get a refund and buy them seperately?

Or is the DLC active for all the games seperately also?

On a seperate note, there's only one review for Dishonored®: Death of the Outsider™ and it's a bad review. Is there some reason to stay away from this one and just get 1 & 2?

Edit: Just realized you're from France and so the price differences may vary. It seems in some regions, prices are lower for the individual games than the collection or the exact opposite in other regions.

Death of the Outsider is the worst of the three. Generally smaller levels (the large one is re-used). The fewest skills - which limits how you can approach combat or stealth. There are multiple paths to complete objectives, at least two endings depending on choices you make, and the atmosphere & production quality is still there. But the small size and restrictions on playstyle make it feel like cash-grab knock-off that can't quite be saved by its story - which is interesting but imo unnecessary. (I liked the Outsider as a figure of mystery, and this basically gets rid of most of the mystery.)

You can disable at least some of the DLC by renaming or removing the DLC folders which you can find in
\Dishonored\DishonoredGame\DLC

DLC5 = Dunwall City Trials
DLC6 = Knife of Dunwall
DLC7 = The Brigmore Witches

You can see that the DLCs are deactivated since the game does not give you the message how to access your DLCs anymore. Don't know if deactivating the DLC folder completely also deactivates the "Void Walker’s Arsenal" DLC though.

This isn't really an issue.

The collection is just the three separate games, not some megapackage that requires anyone to download the three games together. For some regions, the pricing of the collection is worse than the individual games while for others the collection is the better option in terms of price.
