How do i download the original game ? The one I paid for.

I'm with you on that.

I want to opt out of some of these new voices, despite the good bits.

I need fucking Cuno back. The real Cuno.
Do what I did, torrent it off a piracy site that has a section titled "Click here for Old Download Links". Shouldn't be hard to find, no viruses either. Screw GOG for removing Disco Elysium off their site without warning -- yes, it's now a different game, it is not the one we bought.
You can turn of the voices in the settings? Does this not fix the issue?

NOT the one you paid for. 30 seconds search would have informed you that final cut was not the orig. Would it have been nice if GOG had included the original? Yes. However, you got exactly what you paid for, and GOG ain't liable for your failure to read. PS, the additional side missions and better voice acting make Final Cut the version that most people should want anyway.

Everyone that purchased the game before the Final Cut update still got their version upgraded with no chance of downloading a previous one if they had not done so already. 30 seconds of search in this forum would have informed you of that.

Point taken. I was late to the party on this game, and hadn't realized it had auto-updated to a somewhat different game. My post was based on the descrip on the GOG page, plus a few reviews. So I'll own this one, my bad. More importantly, GOG's bad. It is outrageous that they do a game-changing update without warning.

OTOH, this is a poster-child example of why you should never have auto-update turned on for anything, ever.

Even worse, for the first few days after the update, you were able to downgrade to the version previous to the F.C. (using Galaxy), but then they removed the option. Inexplicable.

Well I bought the original, it turned into the FC version automatically.

While I definitely don't want to switch back to the old one just because of the voices - the rest of the game is improved IMO - it's definitely a dick move to just remove that version, considering those voices aren't in the DC version AFAIK (unless they're still in the files somewhere).

Wait what?!

That's a double-dick move right there. Pretty sad GOG did something like this.

GOG is the same company that made Cyberpunk 2077, the Witcher, and are the only hosting platform that continues offering support to people that still want to be a part of Gamergate. Making a game unplayable and then screwing over their customers is just what GOG does.

Technically GOG's PARENT company made those games, GOG is part of the group of companies but is technically a different company.

And what's wrong with The Witcher? I've never played it, but heard it was pretty good...

Cyberpunk was a royal screw up of epic proportions, mostly due to the vastly wasted potential and idiotic design decisions.

Also, pretty sure every storefront that sells DE did the same thing, or more likely worse (pretty sure Steam never had options to revert to the original for example?). So this is on the devs, not GOG.
