I have D2 Gold. I played through all the base game + elf sagas in Return of the Elves, and they worked without any problem. Now I've tried to launch the extra campaigns in Gallean's Return, but each time I select an addon saga, the game crashes to desktop at the next (leader select) screen. I tried with various factions, they all seem to do this. At the same time the base game sagas seem to work even when launching them from Gallean's Return. Any ideas how to resolve this?

I'm giving up on this, I tried to contact Strategy First's support, the only replies I got was to try various compatibility modes (didn't work), and to try to run the game via Steam (I have the GOG version). They haven't replied to my last e-mail for 3 weeks now, so I'm going to uninstall the game :/

hm, I have owned and played to death three different copies of this game, including GOG's, but never had this problem. did you by any chance try to move the exported heroes from RotE to Gallean's Return? I'm fairly sure they are not compatible--I always create a high level leader in Dark Prophecy (just play one of the bigger scenarios and export him at the end--you can even go into the editor first to make sure the map has some goodies, or give yourself a nasty beast so you can steamroll the map quickly) and that has always been available for use in Guardians of the Light / Servants of the Dark. perhaps reinstall first, if you want to try this
No I didn't move any files between the two games. I tried to sort this out with Strategy First's Support, with their last advice being this:

If this is a version from GOG and not the Steam version, then I suggest you have a look at the forums on the GOG site because they are using a different version of the game that has been modified to work with the GOG system. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Back to square one.

But w/e I gave up already and uninstalled the games. The sagas were nice, but the ineptitude of both Strategy First and GOG's support is somewhat disappointing.
