It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Has anyone else had trouble launching Dino Crisis and receiving the error - "There is an error from DirectDraw.(80004001) Please refer the online help."

I don't think I've seen it brought up on this forum yet, the GOG search bar doesn't seem to be working for me.

It uses ddraw.dll when you remove that, you may get a similar error.
Having the same issue. Tried some random older mods, uninstall/reinstall, repair, still can't get game to launch. I put in a ticket with support so just waiting on that I guess.

Update! Found a fix!

Go to where Dino Crisis is installed, probably C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Dino Crisis

In that folder is a program "dxcfg.exe". Open it and it's settings for the game. Set the "display mode" to a proper resolution for your monitor.

After doing this, game launched correctly without error. Perhaps before this, it was trying to launch in an incorrect resolution?

Hi, I am trying to run Dino Crisis on GOG Galaxy on SteamDeck with SteamLinux and have the same issue with DirectDraw and code. I am not sure how to fix it on my configuration. Anybody help please or give clue, I am fresh Steam Deck owner (regular Linux user) ... not sure how to apply fix that worked for Windows (?)in up posts .

This definitely bug and should be fixed , do we have bug tracker here?

Hey, I having the same error. I got it to launch the game by going to where the game was installed and just launching dino.exe directly. I tried setting the display with the "dxcfg.exe" but it still was giving me the same error when I tried to launch it from the gog galaxy app so maybe it is related to that.

Launching it directly from where the files have been installed through Dino.exe works. This issue seems to be with the launcher.
For anyone using Steam Deck and Heroic Launcher, this worked for me:

1. Open Heroic, go to Game Options ➝ Advanced Settings.
2. Under Environment Variables add:

WINEDLLOVERRIDES = ddraw=n,b; dinput=n,b

That resolved the issued for me

Thanks!

For Lutris:

- Go to Configure > Runner Options > DLL overrides
- add ddraw and dinput as keys with n,b as the value for both
- Disable Gamescope
