Hi,
I don’t know if this has happened to any of you, but when I finished playing yesterday, I was in the level 4 dungeon. I had killed King Leoric and exited the game after stepping into level 4. When I opened the game today, I found myself at the start of level 3 and King Leoric was still alive. The game simply pushed me back in time somehow. I had worse gear and the when I was talking to townsfolk, the Leoric quest was still open. Has this happened to any of you? I’m having trouble continuing because I don’t trust the save system anymore. I was playing the “Diablo” version, not “Diablo Classics.”

You only say exited the game. Diablo does not auto-save when exiting. Did you maybe forget to Save Game before hitting Quit Game?

This is very likely what happened.

To be more precise though, it only auto-saves in multi-player mode, but not in single player mode… which may indeed lead to such mishaps.
and in multiplayer only the hero is saved :)
