The plague of cheater is at limit.
now i can't play online 'case cheater don't stop to crash me while playng.
Today enter someone that says "i will crash you in 10 seconds". So... over 10 seconds... boom. Game closed and a generic error was appear without any massage.
Ok the cheaters... but least playing without problems, and not, i can't play online because some stupid wanna crash me.

Adding a password to your game can help with that. Would be helpful to know what they're even doing to crash your game though.

but if i add a password, they can't to enter and crashing my game, because for let me crash they need to enter.
Adding a password prevents other people to enter and play serenely in my game. If i need play alone i go ti single player.

Adding a password doesn't fix the problem of people crashing other peoples games

Sadly there is nothing you can do to stop this and the other hacks and problems. Whenever its crashing the game, killing your character and other game breaking things they can do to your character.

The problem is how Diablo / Battle.net is coded. My only recommendation is that you play with people that you trust from a community. If you make a open game there is a decent chance that a hacker / scripter will join and kill you.

Unless GoG fixes the code (i doubt Blizzard will do it) you sadly wont see any fixes for this including many of the other bugs in the game :(.

Well, this brings back memories. When I was a kid and played this game, cheaters were a real plague.

And now I'm old, Diablo made a return after a looong time and is downright ancient, and people are still using the same hacking programs and modules they used decades ago, because I assume those still work since Diablo is still at 1.09.
I don't own GOG's Diablo though, so I can't check.

I don't condone this crap of course, and I never did. People who make other people's lives miserable online, in whatever form, need to have their internet access revoked. But in a way it's, euh, nostalgic.

Those hacks are what killed d1 back in the day. Your best bet is to get a friend or 2 to play with or give Anders the error message.

Anders_Jenbo you can find allot of the hack online and study them.

Play the game single-player--how 99,9% of everyone played it when originally released...;) Solves many problems! I don't understand people wanting to ruin classic SP games by adding on a bolted-on MP component--I mean just because it's there doesn't mean you have to use it, eh?...;)

Diablo is about as MP as you get... It launched Battelnet.... Like, I am stunned you would even want to broach the topic that Diablo as a SP game. Its like claiming the sun is green. I don't know a single soul who payed it solo, except to level up waiting for others to join your LAN or battlenet game.

I play with robyrockk and honestly we have great fun.
Met him on a public game, and I'd really love to meet new people to share the frustration of this fantastic game without the dumb horde of cheaters... I have to write [LGT] as a suffix/prefix like the old times?

We have now fixed quite a few of them with DevilutionX 1.3.0 and also add an option (build in ZeroTier) for public multiplayer with no need for port forwarding :)
