Every time you start a new game some quests generate differently. In the original you probably had The Butcher quest while here you don't, so it kind of swapped your weapon for the cleaver, although this is clearly a bug. I suggest selling all your weapons before you start a new game with the same character, and then buying them back from Griswald after you do.

PS
Ignore the guy above, he's just promoting his mod (and is probably paid to do so). If you write to him "Oh god I broke my leg" he'll mostly likely link your trauma to his mod happening or whatnot.

Are you farming reputation by shitposting everywhere or what? Your answer is wrong, I'm reporting you

"I suggest selling all your weapons before you start a new game with the same character, and then buying them back from Griswald after you do."
I suggest actually playing the game you have so much to talk about first

Could you report the Shadiac guy? He's shitposting on every new topic and giving wrong answers
"I suggest selling all your weapons before you start a new game with the same character, and then buying them back from Griswald after you do." - don't actually do that, you can't buy items back and there's no way to recover these items playing the original game, however DevilutionX deals with such cases and your items should be fine there

DevilutionX is not a mod, it is a modern open source engine for Diablo.
qndel is one of many contributors to this engine, it is not "his" in any way.
To my knowledge, no one has never been paid to promote DevilutionX. Hey, even working on it is not a paid activity.

Well, if you look at his comment above, he once again states that you can't do something ingame, but with Devilution you can. Most of his comments are like that, upon pointing it out he started writing aggressive remarks toward me in a neighboring thread. What am I to do now? Maybe I can't go to the bathroom properly if I don't have Devilution installed? Maybe not open my fridge?

I used to work in a call center for tech support in Montreal where we were paid to say to customers who had AV issues to "buy our modem because it has a router built-in and you won't need AV at all". This is paid promotion 100%. I'm reporting people who post YouTube vids without proper "includes paid promo" tags at the start. And I will be doing so until they learn their place. I'm also downvoting everyone who does that. Either provide useful information or be open about advertising.

PS
No mod for no game can solve ALL of its issues. Not even 100 years later. This is impossible.

Ignore his posts, it’s that easy.

qndel is not paid to promote DevilutionX. Nobody is paid by DevilutionX team to do anything.

Funny. Reddit states otherwise.
Man you are persistent! If you read carefully there isn't any place stating that it is a mod. It says that is a subreddit dedicated to modding the game. An open source reverse engineered diablo engine, DevilutionX is an updated and improved version of the original game, that hasn't seen any official update for two decades. As a bonus you can now run it on other operating system and even some consoles. There is a community that is actively developing it.. And no one is paid to promote it, and why should it be, since it is completely FREE. From fans for the fans! Heck, even you can modify it and make your own version of the game if you have the programming knowledge. Don't see what your problem with the project is but spreading false information is not cool!

Excuse me, what false information am I spreading? I played Hellfire and was able to buy my items from Griswald right after I started a new game. Don't know whether that was a coincidence or not.

Anyway, I'm fed up with this. Don't think I'll be coming back to GOG for a while, if ever. I just wanted to play a goddamn abandonware and I played a goddamn abandonware. Got absolutely worth my money. I've had fun, but I don't need this. So long.

Exactly what items did you sell and buy back? Did they have the same base type, enchantments, and statistics after as they did before? Were you also able to buy back your unique items? (Vendors never sell uniques in a normal game.)

True, but we did fix more then 90 bugs in the game, way more if you count stability issues which could lead to any number of issues in game, this took us about 3-4 years to do. We also tried to focus on the ones that more commonly plague players so don't be surprised if you see it pop up a lot as the solution to original problem that players are having. There are still some that we haven't dealt with yet like walls with no doors, so we don't post it as a solution there, yet.

You can see the full list of fixes here: https://github.com/diasurgical/devilutionX/blob/master/docs/CHANGELOG.md

Even if you prefer to only use the original, loading the save game and creating a new game in devilutionx will fix the item and you can transfer the saveame back to regular diablo afterwards. You can download the latest release here:
