advowson: GOG sells Diablo 1, but not Diablo 2. Diablo 1 has no chests in town. In single player, you can leave items on the ground, and they will be part of your saved game. In multiplayer, there is no good way built into the game to save large quantities of items. Quests are added to your quest log by talking to the townspeople. In multiplayer, there are very few quests, and all of them are for you to find a particular enemy and kill it (The Butcher, The Skeleton King, Archbishop Lazarus, The Dark Lord). You can do so without ever being told by the townspeople that you should do it. The only quest with a prerequisite is that you must kill Lazarus before you can enter the level where you will face The Dark Lord.
Thanks for you response. I looked again and the download specifically says Diablo II not 1 so I don't know what happened. All the graphics are of D2 including the music. Just wished that I had a computer old enough to play the discs that I do have, but that won't happen. I guess GOG got my few pennies and see what I can do with this game. As a big game player with D3 and all the expansion packs, was looking forward to going back in history and enjoying the beginning of the game again. Oh well, lesson learned.
