Can someone test whether the "classic" version with this fix is the exact same thing as the "new" version?

I have the suspicion, that most of the work has been done by the community again.

it's close but not quite.

GOG's DX wrapper:
+ supports integer scaling.
+ no more distortion in starting menus (although Battle.net UI is still buggy, that's another problem entirely).
- cannot alt-enter to fullscreen or windowed mode on the fly (while playing).

StrangeBytes ddraw wrapper:
+ can alt-enter anytime to fullscreen or window.
+ has a hotkey ~ in game to adjust resolution, vsync.
- some graphical distortion in the starting menus.

Thanks for checking!
Interesting.

I like that the other fix is completely OpenSource and has alt-enter, but multi-player is a big thing.
My StrangeBytes ddraw wrapper does work for battle.net, the gateway option is present.

DX wrapper also adds the X button for closing the application.

ok i tried it and it does indeed work with GOG classic. but for retail Diablo + only StrangeBytes patch without anything from GOG you'd have to add the gateway option yourself.
Is your retail diablo patched to 1.09? Because mine is and it has the Gateway option too.

mine is 1.09b. the things is we already have GOG version installed on our system, so it already has the relevant registry keys that added the Global gateway, if a user has not bought GOG version or installed it, they won't see the Global gateway. though they may add it themselves.
Ok, I thought that you're literally not seeing the Gateway option in the Diablo menu. It seems you only meant that retail diablo doesn't have the "Global" gateway entry, which is true. You would need to add Global gateway manually even if you have the GOG version installed, because the GOG version creates a separate registry entry.
