qndel: What guide dude ... it's literally in the message you posted, you just change file extension, can't you read? xD
avatar
Nightspirith: a guide to keep the equipment. changing the extension makes the character lose everything and having only gold and no quest saved that means you start a new game with a lvl25 with a lot of gold.

Anders_Jenbo: It's not clear where you got stuck, did you install DevilutionX and put the saves in to %AppData%\diasurgical\devilution ?
avatar
Nightspirith: devilution doesnt see any of the saves sadly, i copied it in the correct directory and also changed the extension to hsv
I just had the same problem.
I found out the answer.
Before, your save copy would be in the diablo (or hellfire) folder.
The path has changed.
In the DevilutionX folder, there is a readme.txt.
Read it.
I never do it but it's a good file to read in any software, really.

So here is your answer:
# Save Games and configurations
The configurations and save games are located in:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\diasurgical\devilution

Ashleee: Basically ↑ is correct :)

Let me add something:

Characters are not entirely compatible between the base game, and standalone expansion. The base game saves in .SV format, and standalone expansion pack saves in .HSV.

However, if you want to experiment, you can copy the .SV character file from the base game:
Original game: \GOG Games\Diablo
or
DirectX 9 base game: \GOG Games\Diablo\dx

to Hellfire folder: \GOG Games\Diablo\hellfire

Once the file will be copied, change it's extension from .SV, to .HSV, for exmaple:
from:
single_0.sv

to
single_0.hsv
So I want to transfer from regular GoG hellfire to devilcutionx hellfire...i tried copying over the single_2.hsv file and it did nothing. im really bad at this kind of stuff, someone mentioned a discord?

qndel: DevilutionX will allow to freely switch between vanilla and hellfire (both ways!) without losing your items
I tried and my diablo mage couldn't learn the hellfire specific spell, phasing, apocalyps etc...
Maybe i did something wrong :s
Try posting your save and we can have a look

I4Ve deleted and creat new one.
MAybe that's because i had transfer the char from diablo to hellfire years ago and played with it on hellfire and that "corrupted" the save.
(just thinking about this sorry :s )
