I have fisnish the game one time with Warrior LVL25.

I want to play Online but when i lauch the multiplayer mod (in classic version) they said me i need to update the game.
I choose OK, i have an update (1second) and they saif i need to restart, that i apply. The game close and i have this message :

if you have version 1.09 (comes with GOG) no need to update.

the easiest way to play online/multiplayer is to install ipx wrapper (http://www.solemnwarning.net/ipxwrapper/) just drag the 4 dll files into the diablo folder **(Ipx wrapper seems to be already installed in the Diablo folder but not Hellfire)**
install hamachi (https://www.vpn.net/)
play in ipx (lan) and hamachi ''tricks your system in believing the other players on your hamachi server are on the same LAN ''

for Battle net it's harder and you need to open some ports wich is not recommended and not safe to do so. (same character by the way) Battle net is nearly always empty so no point to put your computer at risk to play on battle net.

You just need to find players and I recommend to play with IPX (thank you IPX wrapper) via Hamachi.

Battle.net hosted by GOG is the preferred method. If you have a legacy CD you can follow these steps to connect:
