Dear Blizzard.

Diablo II is easily one of my top 5 games. Few remakes do the right thing and stay completely true to original. You did and I would gladly pay the asking 40$.

However, times have changed. Gone are the times when I went through the hurdle of running suspicious cracks just to be able to play my bought game the way I wanted. Why is it so hard to let the game install and run completely offline? When it obviously already has these capabilities? When it's just your company policies in the way?

My money's on the table. The rest is up to you.

Blizzard don't care anymore, it isn't the same Blizzard that made D1/D2. I still haven't bought D2R because the original plays just fine on modern PCs, is easy to run on older systems and I can use mods. I play solo now mostly, played multiplayer back then, if you want multiplayer than D2R is a better choice.

Some big fish from blizzard has read your post and is driving to you to bend over for your 40$

I don't expect anything like that to happen but if there's some old school gamers left over there, they should understand what this is about. And that's a start.

Even if my post increases the chance of it happening by 0.01%, it's fine by me.

You posted on a forum hosted by a different company for a different game. You might as well throw a bottle in the ocean.

Blizzard might have presence in a forum dedicated to their game, on a site which officially sells it. Perhaps this butterfly wing flap may yet have an effect we cannot foresee, eh? Granted, comments of the type "ain't happenin', dude" don't get us far in life. If I post in official forums, will you support there?

This is actually the right move. I don't always agree with anders, and I never agree with qndel, but this is 100% the way to go.

I went over and spent some time looking for related threads. There's plenty of complaints on "offline not real offline" already. No blue posts and downplayed by 'onliners'. So I got a firm feeling that the forum which ideologically disagrees with me is not the best place to initiate this idea. I think gog is the right place and this kind of discussion is on-topic with what gog is all about. Maybe I should've posted it in general section instead but it has better chances of being seen by Blizzard here.

Maybe it will happen in a year, maybe in 20 years when D2R is already considered "old junk" by Blizzard or maybe it will never happen. But don't dismiss it as impossible and don't suggest that doing nothing would have been better than voicing an unlikely request.

In the end we do have the wishlist counter, I just thought that someone else might have something to add.

If Blizzard is getting a strong signal from there closest crowd that players generally do not agree with this opinion, then why would they listen to it if it's posted in a more remote location?

It would seam to me that the most productive course of action for you would be to try and convince the onliners of the value of support for true offline. Or at the very least voice your support for the others who has suggested it in the right place but are getting more push back then support.

I wouldn't expect them to add D2R to GOG within the next 5-6 years. I would say if gog is still around, it might be added around 2030, if the world still exists in a state where video gaming is still a pastime.

You know that's only 6 years and 6 months in the future right? If we go by D1, then D2r would be on GOG by 2045. But D2 could be up for 2025. Thought I don't think that's realistic since D2r is probably seen as the solution for D2.

There are two reasons I can imagine.

First is that they want more money and seek new crowds to offer their games to. They are a big company so one would expect their market scouts to find and observe places like gog. If those wishlist counters would get very high, I'm sure they'd get interested.

Second is a bit of my wishful thinking. I like to imagine game companies to have a 'heart' - in other words, filled with people who feel joy when the masses play and love their games. This can lead them to support even secondary groups which are smaller than their primary sales group.
