Hello all,

Firstly, thank you GoG for all of the work you have done. Now onto the question.

I have been wondering about this since when I was young and first playing D1 but, in general, is all strength equal? I typically play warrior and have often noticed that the first stat point allocated into strength from a level up will increase damage a majority of the time. Sometimes it increases damage by 2, sometimes the second point will also increase damage by a further 1.

When I increase str by elixirs it remains the typical 3 elixir to 1 dmg ratio, so I am unsure as how 1 stat point from my level could increase by 2. For the record, my char is usually mid to later lvls when I notice this (20's to 30's+).

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is there a reason behind this, or am I simply trying to see a pattern that doesn't exist?

Thank you, all!

The damage formula contains the character level. More information at Jarulf's guide page 9/Section 2.2.2 Damage done.

Understandable. So, regardless of str stat points from levels or elixirs, a lvl 50 warrior 250str will always have the same base dmg, yes? i.e. It doesn't matter if I max out str from elixers prior to lvl50?

My apologies for the silly question. It just always seemed like I gained far more dmg from the First stat point allocated from my lvl.
Right.

I think your impression is like the effect that makes people think that they can feel if other people are looking at them, i.e. the brain cheats because it only remembers when you saw people looking at you and it makes you forget the times no one was looking at you.

Sorry to answer my own question, but I believe I finally found the reason behind it! It appears it's a stat display bug.

"CHARACTER DAMAGE UPDATE UPON LEVEL UP

When a character levels up, the damage displayed in the character screen may be incorrect until the status of the character changes. Status changes include the removal and/or applying of equipment or a raise in character attributes."

So as warrior with 250str, every level thereafter should increase damage by 2.5 (rounded to 3 perhaps?). My first point allocated increases dmg by 2, my second point inceases dmg by 1. I noticed after I maxed all stats (the game will then not give any stat points to allocated upon leveling), my damage will automatically increase by 3 after I level.
