Is the modernized version supposed to be locked at 20 fps, like the original? In the main menu I'm able to get more than 20, but whenever I start a game it's locked to 20.

I have my refresh rate set at 144hrz, and VSYNC is off.

No wonder the mouse is choppy and all over the place.
According to Blizzards FAQ:The GOG-enhanced version offers several quality of life additions, including minor audio fixes, up-scaling support for resolution and refresh rate control, and compatibility fixes. Please note that this version cannot connect to Battle.net and only supports multiplayer via LAN and P2P connection.

It should have a framerate control and I assume that it should allow for higher than 20. If you find it, please leave a comment about it and tell me what the max framerate is. Haven't bought the game, but if it allows for 60+ I sure as hell will.

The only fps controls in the launcher are VSYNC and setting the refresh rate. I've changed both of these, and neither affected the 20fps cap. If there are more controls, I have no idea where they are, or if they even exist.
When you launch the game you have a "video settings" option available where you can change the resolution and refresh rate but for some reason it doesn't seem to have any effect on the game. I have set it to 1920 x 1080 60Hz but it's still 20 fps max ingame. Something isn't right here and I hope this will be fixed very soon.

Tried with v-sync turned off and the framerate limiter to whatever the max is? Could be that the v-sync limits it to the original framerate.

Yeah but it also changes the gameplay so it's a no go when you want to play the game vanilla.

Mmmm... but not aware of any other patches / mods that keep vanilla gameplay and allow 60 FPS
This is just a blind guess since I don't own the game, but could it be that the 60 Hz refresh rate only refers to the graphics, but not the gameplay? If I'm right the game would still run at 20 Hz, while the graphics would be drawn at 60 Hz. That would be pretty pointless since the game would just draw the same frame three times, but it might solve some compatibility problems with modern monitors, so who knows.

Old games were often programmed with specific assumptions about the hardware they would run on because no one imagined that people would still want to play that same game 20 years later. If the game logic is coupled to the frame rate I can imagine that it would be a lot of work to decouple them again.

Nope, the actual output rate is 20 fps. My GSYNC monitor stays at 120Hz (or whatever I set in the video options) in the main menu, but drops to 20Hz once I load a game.

Same thing happens regardless of whether I choose 60Hz or 120Hz, or fullscreen or windowed.

Even Classic mode does the same thing. I get a nice 120Hz main menu then it drops to 20Hz after loading a game

I don't mind if the characters, effects, etc are all 20Hz.. but the mouse at 20Hz is really rough
Up-scaling works but was disappointed with this issue. Please issue a fix.
Is there a solution for this problem?
I also only have 20 fps in the game.
Is this normal or is there a fix to get 60+ fps?

I am getting the same issue, 20fps in game, i have tried different settings but nothing works with the latest version.

Also when i do a file verify it will download something and install it but it appears to do nothing to fix the issue, and i can repeat this process but it doesnt help.

I am not sure if 20 fps is the default.
Heard from nobody that they have 60+ fps.

Maybe it is normal :(
