I suck at this game. I don't really know what I am doing.

Somehow I managed to press some button which prevents me from being able to fire my weapon. Every time I get the message "There is no augmentation in this slot". Can anyone explain to me what I have done and how I can fix it?

Sounds like you managed to bind the primary mouse button from fire to an augmentation slot without an aug in it. Go into settings to fix your keybindings.
