Hi everyone,

I figured it would be fun to discuss favorite locations in DX. Please give your comments and advise why you like one location over the other.

I'll start with my 2 favorites: Hong Kong, followed closely by Paris (complete experience in both cases).

Hong Kong for great music and "technological feel".
Paris on the other hand because it is more creepy and gives that feeling of something long gone but not forgotten.

What do you guys think?
Hong Kong for the atmosphere...
and the MJ12 prison for the "OMGWTF" when you escape it

I agree all the way Hong Kong had many secert locations to find and the one of the best melee weapons around......."DRAGON SWORD"!!!!!!!!! FTW
ps who could forget when that sweet old maid in the apartment is kind and nice to you and then try to whack you with a pistol. Good times
I like the Unatco women's bathroom......that damn secretary can't keep me out forever!
I might agree with Hong Kong. It's very atmospheric, with lovely neon lights and music, though it feels very cramped and corridor-y, whereas New York City felt more like real city streets. I think my absolute favorite would be the airbase though, can't remember the exact name of it, but the one with the huge Mech hangars.
You're thinking of Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Personally, my favorite is also Wan Chai Market in Hong Kong. Lots of people to listen to, little things you can do, and orders you can do the essential things in.

Ah, yes, that's it. I think that and the freighter/docks level do the best work in creating a sense of scale.
I love nicolette doucette's mansion in paris. Sort of the 'calm before the storm' in the game

That's my favorite area too. The atmosphere and music alone is wonderful.
One of my favorite locations was the Knight Templar's Cathedral. Not only did it provide a rich variety of landscape to explore, but the information you could learn from books and emails added a new dimension to the overall story.

Just curious, did anyone try out any of the recipes you could find?

*laff* When I surprised her in that bit of the game I decided to have some more fun, summoned a basketball, opened the door and shot the thing inside the women's room.

Of course she and Manderley both gave me grief about it for the rest of the first bit of the game--but it was worth it. :-D

For sheer atmosphere I'm with you--though every time I'm in that map I ask myself why they never put in a downstairs bathroom.

For gameplay fun I enjoy Vandenberg. Lots of bots and punks to pot! *gryn*

Yeah they repeated this for DX:HR but it seemed sooooo forced, like most of the nods they did.

HR was 'ok' but the very thing that draws me back to DX time and time again is the story... HR's story just wasn't in the least interesting for me, or at the very least wasn't told well enough to capture my imagination, apart from the nice and shiney engine, the game itself just seemed dull.

EDIT: oh and yeah Hong Kong... Dum Diddle-ling Diddle-lum Diddle-ling Dum.

Hm, I'm kinda partial to Paris, myself. I like Hong Kong fine, but I really enjoy general melancholia of the setting and the contrast between the medieval Templar Cathedral and the futuristic technology. That, and I find the music in Chateau DuClaire extremely soothing.
Thinking about it now, Hell's Kitchen is a lot of fun during all of your visits. There's the firefight in front of Osgood and Sons the first time, the escape from the 'Ton the second, and the NYPD/UNATCO/MJ12 troops the last time.
