I get the initial prompt to begin the game and chose a graphics card or other things, but the actual game insta-crashes. It seems similar to an issue I've been having with Baldur's Gate1; Issue being that the game will under no circumstances get past intro.

Though in Deus Ex the furthest I'd managed to push it was up to the starting of character selection once. I chose a start new game then it froze, hung, and lobbed an error message at me(That was in "safe mode").

For some reason the color of the Eidos logo flickers neon green on shading. The Ion Storm logo is fine. Then the Spinning Deus Ex logo has the same green error as the Eidos one.

Occasionally on being terminated it will also give me a critical error which amounts to
" History: UFire Texture::ConstantTimeTick <- UTexture::Tick <- (FireTextureEffects.Electricity.Nano_SFX) <- UTexture::Update<- URender:: DrawLodMesh<-(LodMesh DeusExItems.LaserBeam) <- DrawMesh <-URender::DrawActorSprite <-URender::DrawFrame <- "

....And from here it loops everything from after the word [History:] above into a massive pile up about sixteen or so of those long.
Use the Kentie's Launcher. Note that it's requires to have Visual Studio 2015 runtime installed.
I'm quite sure that you're having problems with "Data Execution Prevention". Are you running Vista perhaps? Some older games and old unreal-engine games in particular tend to set off this "safety feature" in windows.

You can disable and re-enable it on your whole system this way: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/disable-data-execution-prevention

Or, you can disable it only for deusex.exe this way: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/turn-off-data-execution-prevention-dep

Don't worry if this looks very technical and complicated. The easiest way to deal with this is to disable DEP temporarily while playing, then turning it back on afterwards. No worries if you forget to turn it back on most of the time, but you should leave it on before installing a new program you don't know much about. I mean programs you find on odd websites, like system tools that will "fix" various problems or special drivers, not other games on GOG or steam. Anything that isn't made by a well known developer you need to be a little more careful with and for those instances DEP is good to have.

You can probably avoid this problem altogether by using Kentie's custom launcher, I strongly recommend it even if you're not having problems, as will anyone else who have ever used it: http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/
