I have no idea what I did wrong and it infuriates me that I can't find a single google example of someone who encountered the same thing.

The Texture Pack installer didn't give me a single error or anything, but I can't check my options in game anymore and I can't read any menus because everything is just smudged like fudge - just as Denton is. What the fudge happened?

Try reinstalling the texture pack. Disable the antivirus during that time, maybe it detected some false positives.

Also did you run the texture pack installer as admin? Do you run the game as admin?
Sometimes installing games in Program Files also f**ks up game installation when you try modding them

Well, after doing some experiments with uninstalling one piece at a time..
It is the Core texture replacements that turn everything into a gelatinous grey goo.

Specifically the Female Denton and Robots along with eyes will be grey goo if only the Core is installed, and some other background textures. This is with using " Run as admin " too of course. I guess I'll just have to play it, using these normal bizzaro graphics.

Thanks for your help though.

Good to know, haven't tried IW with textures pack just yet. Is it a lot better?
I wouldn't know really, but the standard graphics are unbelievably ugly.
It's the kind of ugly that you can only find from developers that wasn't sure of what they were doing.
Like it doesn't even belong to any specific console nor age of time. It is, transcended ugliness.
I know this is a bit of an old post but I know exactly what your problem is.

When installing the John P's texture pack, make sure the language is set to UK, not the default of US. The GOG version of the game is UK and this makes a big difference where the texture information is changed in the data files, hence the screwup.

I had the exact same issue when i stated playing this a few days ago. I can confirm the solution of the poster above, it was simply needed to select UK English when installing the texture pack instead of US English- been working fine since then.
Gonna bump and confirm what the others are saying in case anyone bought it from the summer sale like I did. Exactly the problem and changing the language fixed it.
