When I attempt to start the game, I do not receive any launcher or main menu screen, in fact, the only evidence of the game attempting launch is my fans running faster.

The current location of the game is: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Deus Ex HRDC, if that's the issue.

I have the game set to compatibility mode for Windows 7.

Let me know if you need more information.

Try this mod:

https://www.nexusmods.com/deusexhumanrevolution/mods/28?tab=description

It should be a fix if your problem is related to too many cores. This way you won't have to do it manually or figure out how many cores/threads your CPU has.

When you open the program one of the columns says CPU Affinity. If your CPU has 12 threads it will say 0-11. If it has 6 threads it will say 0-5. Etc., etc.

At the top of the screen in the menu bar click on options and then select CPU and then CPU affinities. In the window that opens up type the name of the Deus Ex Human Revolution executable in the process match box and then click on the CPU affinity box below that and check the boxes next to CPU 0, CPU 1, and CPU 2. Then hit OK to close the window.

Thanks, it was both my CPU and Winrar making .001 files unreadable to the game.
Im sure all the people that come to this thread has old files from old installations of the game, so using RevoUninstaller´s portable version, uninstall the game (steam will ask if you want to uninstall the game), make a restore point if you want to when Revo ask for it, then use the advanced scan and clean all the regedit´s files of the game and all older folders and files of the game, then reinstall the game and enjoy.
Uninstall with Revo Uninstaller
Create restore point (if you want)
Advanced scan
Clean all regedit files
Next
Clean all folders and files
Finish
Reinstall
ENJOY!!!!!!!
