Hi, I remember playing Robin Hood; Legend of Sherwood for hours back in the day, and I've noticed a lot of people comparing Desperados to it. Basically my question is, is it worth a buy to someone who sunk hours into Robin Hood?

Also, one of my favourite bits about Sherwood was the whole "Merry Men" crafting/training mechanic at your base, but it felt a little underdeveloped. Does Desperados expand on this?
No. Desperados have pre-made characters and you can't craft or train anything. It's all about stealth action. But everything in this game is well-done. From the story to the gameplay mechanics, that share a lot with The Legend of Sherwood, released one year after Desperados by the same developer. You should like.

Brazilian, sorry for any mistakes :D
Yeah....as mentioned above, both games were made by Spellbound - a German developer. I've played and enjoyed both games. Desperados is one of my favorites. I enjoyed Sherwood but never really finished it as it felt a bit repetitive after a while. I bet we see it on GOG though eventually.

Anyway, other than the Merry Men thing, the strategy aspect is very similar so I think you will enjoy this game. Desperados is a bit harder though I think, but very very rewarding. And Desperados never gets repetitive. Each level is different and new challenges are thrown your way.

Thanks for the advice folks.

I think I'll wait and see if Sherwood gets onto gog, then probably end up buying it more for nostalgia than anything else.
Holy cow, I just checked this game out, I'd love to see this on Gog
I found Desperados slightly better than Robin Hood, but enjoyed both really. The later game Chicago 1930 was similiar but worse than the earlier ones. I've finished all 3 games ages ago (Chicago both as mobster/police). Too bad the anounced webisodes for Desperados never were released, would love to play more missions (at least the demo has one more).

Actuallly, BOth Desparados and Legend of Sherwood use the game engine first used in Commandos. In fact, "Commandos Out West" is a pretty good description of Desperados.
If you liked Legend of Sherwood, by all means give the original, "Commandos", a try.
I wonder why GOG haven't published any other of the spellbound games like Legend of Sherwood or Chicago 1930. Awesome games in my opinion.
