Hello and congratulations to Descent Underground,

first I must say - I'm verry impressed of the Game !

Unfortunately my good old Joystick with a Joystic-USB-Adaptor, (it is working perfectly in all current games)
was found in the [GOG, Online, Build2940, Options, Controls, Advanced Controls] as an "USB ADAPTOR 0"
(Joystick 1) and the setup of all buttons and the coolie hat is working perfectly. (also in the game !)

Only the 2 axes are properly setuped in the Controls as JOY1AXIS1+/- and JOY1AXIS0+/- but in the game
they don't work or move the ship. All other buttons and the coolie hat are working perfectly in the game.
Also the game is working perfectly with the keyboard settings.

After I go back to the [Options, Controls, Advanced Controls]-Menu there are two [USB ADAPTOR 0]
as Joystick1 and Joystick2 shown. (If I remove the second Joystick it automaticly comes back again.)

My System is a: DELL Precision T3500 with a Xeon W3530 2.8Ghz, 24GB-RAM, 1TB HDD, Nvidia GeForce GTX960.
All drivers are updated and I'm useing GOG-Galaxy 1.1.25 (beta).

Is this a bug or have I made a false Setup.
Do you have any hints for me ?

Please apologise my poor english language.

I wish you all a healthy and happy new year 2017 ! :-)

Best regards X2themax

Hi,

Have you checked the USB adapter settings? - I have one that you can switch to either a standard joystick with two axes or to flightstick etc. mode(s). I use it for my trusty old Gravis Analog Pro.

Cheers

Hi patricklibuda,

Yes, this Logitech-USB-Adapter has a switch with 4 positions of:
[Gamepad], [Joy A], [Joy B] and [Wheel] --> I'm useing it in Mode B (as flightstick).
That is the only way to get the coolie hat functional.
It works like a "Logitech Wingman Extreme" and it is proper calibrated.

I'm already playing X-Rebirth, Descent3 and other "flight-games" without any problems with this configuration.

But I tried all other modes without luck. :-(

Thanks for your fast reply !

Normally gamepad mode should be able to make it find all axes - otherwise try a good dual analog gamepad - I found them to work best with Descent 1 - use the two analog sticks for movement (left: forward, reverse strafe, right: up, down tilt left and right + plus the pad for sliding up down left right) and the two front fire buttons (above the triggers) for doing exactly that - works absolutely lovely with Descent Rebirth.

By the way, I had a similar problem with Aquanox 2 - one of the axes on the second analog stick would not work (R axis if remember correctly) - it was a bleeding nuisance...

I do hope the folks who are coughing up the new version(s) are taking note (and taking notes...) ;-).

Hi. Can you get the following files to me:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Descent\Saved\Logs\Descent.log
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Descent\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Input.ini

The best way to get those to me is to post them to a site like Google Drive, Dropbox, or Pastebin and PM the links to me.
Hi Pixley,

this both files:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Descent\Saved\Logs\Descent.log
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Descent\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Input.ini

I have already packed in a Zip file on my own webserver.
But now I'm searching a way to wirte you a PM in this forum ...?

Thanks for your fast response and your help !

Best regards

move your mouse over his name and a dropdown box should appear with options... for pm pick "start a conversation"

p.s, @Pixley, for what ever its worth my T1600M Thrustmaster joystick works without issue
stock Asus TP500Ln running Windows 8.1

X2themax, I've looked through the files you sent me. I'm not seeing anything specifically wrong with your USB adapter being recognized, either in the log or the input config. However, I am seeing a different input config error in your log: the game doesn't seem to like that you bound '^' to "Toggle HUD" (or any action, for that matter). Could you try removing that binding, then restarting the game to see if your joystick becomes responsive after that?
Hello everyone and a happy new year !

I have changed the "Toggle HUD" fuction to "H" but it is still the same issue.
The coolie hat and fire buttons are working, both axes are don't move.

In the settings menu I can bend the joystick up, down, left, right and the settings
are displayed correctly with the movement of the joystick.

After I have reset the settings and set it up again, the same problem.

Best regards
