Interplay has decided it was a good idea to raise each individual Descent game from $9.99 to $19.99, now asking $40 for the 'discounted' trilogy bundle. Wow. That's borderline lunacy!

Wow. Maybe they have a CEO who needs a bonus this year.
To make matters worse, after a certain point some years ago, whoever is behind Interplay now and the rights to all the old Interplay titles like Descent and Shogo and Stonekeep--they just stopped putting the games on sale for more than 20% off. Like, I would like to have all the old Interplay titles in my library, but I am not sure that I want to pay even 8 bucks for Stonekeep thirty years after its release. Luckily I seem to have acquired all the descent and descent freespace games years ago before the IP ghouls took over the Interplay rights. Not sure they even release "new" games now. They released bare ports of the Baldur's gate dark alliance games to modern systems, but other than that . . . The Dark Alliance games are also way too expensive and never go on sale for more than 20% off. Someone should tell them they would make more money by making the games cheaper and just selling more copies.
Yeah, this sucks. Descent 3 is the only game I miss from the trilogy. Now I don't feel like paying this much for it. Already I paid more than I would have ideally liked for the first two. What a disappointment.

Exactly. I have a few Interplay games in my wishlist, they have been sitting there for years in wait for a reasonable price, and now I'm afraid they will stay there forever, as those prices have been steadily increasing. I regret not having bought them pre-2020, when they were dirt cheap.

This seems so obvious... so why don't they grasp this simple truth, that looks so plain to you, me, and a lot of other people? We must be missing something...

My only hope at this point is that this price change preludes to the launch of a Descent bundle with dynamic pricing, with a substantial discount for buying all three games. But how likely this is, I have no idea. Not much, probably.
the price and the amount of discount is a joke.
Maybe - maybe - they raised the price this much just to apply a higher discount later, to make it look like a better deal. Well, honestly... I'm not that hopeful.
Yeah, I was looking to buy this game as I recently saw a video review of it and I thought it looked nice.

But man, they must be insane to think that a lot of people will buy it with this ridiculous price. I could pay maybe (MAYBE!) 10-15$ for the whole series (Descent 1, 2, 3) but paying even more for just the first game (it is around 20$ in my country and that's with the discount!) is a huge fat no for me.
It's $25 Canadian. Wow. That's way over priced. I paid $60 for this back in 1995. IMHO it's worth 25$ but maybe as a full set. Not individually. But I do own several copies of this game as it's the best 6DOF game ever.
