The Logotech 3D seems to have a good reputation. Apparently it's well built. I find that surprising since it's built by Logitech and they have a bad reputation overall. However, for $20 it is probably the best option.

However, for $50 you can get the Thrustmaster T.16000m. This is the flightstick I am going to buy very soon. It is the best entry-level flightstick by far, easily outclassing the more expensive flightsticks in entry-level HOTAS kits like the Saitek X52 or Thrustmaster HOTAS X.

The T.16000m is great because it uses hall effect sensors, making it extremely precise and accurate. The same hall effect sensors are used in the very premium Thrustmaster Warthog combatstick.

For only $20, you can't go wrong with a Logitech 3D. It's a decent stick and it's just so cheap. However, for $50 you hit a nice sweetspot with the T.16000m.

CDN_Merlin: Descent will work with any joystick that works in windows. But if you want to be good at it, you'll need a joystick that has the "twist" in the handle. SNIPPED

http://www.logitech.com/en-ca/gaming/joysticks/devices/291 this is a good stick to use.

00Bob: Depends on your style. I play D3 on occasion with half a dozen friends and use a joystick. Since the twist died I don't do quite as well but am still ultra-agile i.e. hard to hit. The downside of course is that it's hard to aim when I'm rolling\ sliding all around the place - probably why I like Vauss\Seeker missile weaponry. My brother, the #2 on the scoreboard, prefers mouse and using the mass driver which requires extreme accuracy but fires at long range. I really hate getting slammed\killed by it :) For some odd reason I like levels with corners, large rooms & NO MASS DRIVERS!!!!! :)-
I couldn't help but smile at this. The mass driver is quake II's railgun. id liked it so much they added it to their game.
