Hello....Descent 2 used to run fine, but now when I'm in a game, as a robot is exploding, the game slows to a crawl, then resumes normal speed when the robot is all done exploding.
Any thoughts ?
I'm running WinXP sp2. Nvidia 9600, D2x Rebirth ver. 0.57.0
I would like to run it on a Win7 64 bit machine. Where can I get detailed instructions on installing & setup.

Setup should be the same for Windows XP versus Windows 7.

Why are you running XP SP2? If you want to stick with XP, you should at least use SP3. There were useful fixes in the last service pack.

Why are you using Rebirth 0.57.0? 0.58.1 has been out for several years, and they have even newer builds if you don't mind playing beta snapshots.

If you need support, I'd suggest first updating everything to the latest versions and, if the problem persists, contact the Rebirth developers. Only one of their group posts here, so you may be better off using their forum or issue tracker.

So I downloaded ver .0.58.1 a couple of hours ago and installed on one of my older Win7 64 bit systems. Wow, gameplay is fantastic, no problems whatsoever !
Guess I cried wolf too soon, LOL.
