Hi there, I was getting micro-stuttering in this game and I found a really simple fix. Go to where you installed Descent 2 and look for a file called "dosboxDescent2.conf" open it with a text editor or notepad. Scroll down and look for an entry called "memsize=16." Change that value from 16 to 32 or 64 and your micro-stutters should be fixed.

In my efforts to figure out a fix for the problem, I found this file and noticed the memsize entry. So I googled Descent 2 recommended requirements and it says 32mb of ram and DosBox was only giving it 16mb. I gave it 64mb and my micro-stuttering is gone.

Hope this helps.
You should get in contact with GOG support. If it is as you say, it is a mistake on their part and telling them increases the chances of them changing the configuration for everyone.
