Wow! That makes whatever tone generator DosBox is using sound lame. I'm guessing getting hands on hardware like that is expensive today? Anyway to emulate it?
I think I'm leaning towards the Yamaha sounds.

Actually, you need to blame Windows. DOSBox passes MIDI through. Soundfonts.
