I saw another topic with this but the only solution offered was using some source port. I really don't like using things like source ports so is there another solution?

What controls do you have enabled? Do you have an unstable joystick directing your ship to pitch? Is the ship pitching or is it wiggling? Why not use a source port? They tend to fix problems from the original game.

I have a gamepad plugged in but have the controls set to keyboard only. And I don't trust myself to not screw something up while trying to use a source port.
