**Wanted to specify that this happens in Delta Force 2 at the 800x600 resolution settings**

Upon mission load, the game goes into what seems to be borderless window mode, where the game is in the top left corner of my screen and I see a heavily pixelated portion of my desktop. Any chance for a fix?

***Wanted to post a work around***

I have found that the game can sometimes works fine when you first start a mission and other times it does not. So restarting the mission a few times seems to occasionally fix the issue.

I have also had some success with alt-tabbing in and out of the program a couple times.

It might help if you told us which of the Delta Force games you are talking about.

I can confirm this in delta force 1 and 2. This had happened to me, when I increased the resolution to 800x600. By decreasing it back to 640x480 I could play in fullscreen again.

This is not a given. I am playing DF1 now and it looks fine to me on 800x600 (AMD RX 480).

In the installation folder there is a file called df.cfg. If you open it with a text editor tool it will show you some varaibles and values, including Display variables. I'd suggest playing around with game_res / window_size and see what you get out of it.

For me, these values are:

game_res = 4
window_size = 1
windowed = 0
renderer = 1
max_res = 4
gamma = 128
turbo = 1

Thanks, increasing the resolution by the config file and not in the game menu works well.

Edit: I don't know, why it has worked, the first time. But now the bug reappeared. The only change between our configurations is, that I have disabled the turbo. That only reduced the among of voxels the landscape is rendered.

I can confirm this happening in DF1 (i have yet to try DF2). increasing game_res and max_res to 6 (to get 1024x768, see other posts in this forum) seems to have worked. restarting the game/mission seems to help too.

but what the hell - were the graphics really THIS bad back then? I played DF1 and DF2, and I know that nostalgia lets you forget about bad graphics, but oh my ... you can't even really see the difference between enemies and small trees from the distance. if the black pixel moves, than it's an enemy. :D

I'm actually the other way around, playing DF1 yesterday. It looked better and sharper than I remembered, especially the terrain. It might be though that the lores Comanche and Delta Force have gotten a bit mixed up in my mind, so I recalled DF having more pixellated graphics like Comanche...

What kinda annoys me about the game though is how easy it is to kill enemies from a distance. You just shoot a bit with your burst weapon towards enemy pixels, and they are down. I didn't remember it being that easy. Then again I kept dying too yesterday when I played it, so apparently it is just as easy for the enemies too...

Oh, digging old knowledge from log ago...

1024x768, without letterbox, and without turbo (which lowers quality)
dg.cfg,

// DISPLAY
game_res = 5
window_size = 1
windowed = 0
renderer = 1
max_res = 5
gamma = 128
turbo = 0

If you set game_res to 6 it will fall back to 640x480. Don't do it.
But you can change gamma to 160 or 192 while you are here, which makes those soldiers in bunkers more visible from outside :D.

In game you ca hit F12 to switch between letterbox and non-letterbox.
Hit m for map, F1 for key list while in game.
