This game works great under Ubuntu 14.04 with Wine. Just let Wine execute the installer.

No need for Wine. You can use original game from the package with fs-uae. See the release thread about it.

Probably because Cinemaware didn't think of it. It's not a big issue however. As was discussed already you can extract the original from the installer and run it in fs-uae on both Linux and OS X.
