Dear fellow Gamers,

so far I managed to take a lot uf fun out of Deadly Premonition. But now I suffer from a problem, which has already been described by other people playing the PC-Version with keybord an mouse. Since the weapon-aming in the game ist very restricted I´m not able to lock on a certain little doll in a certain pocket of a certain Person during a certain fight.

This is really a game breaker for me. Has anyone so far been able to beat this scene via keybord and mouse - controll? And if so - how? Please help, any hints are welcome (I already tried the Win98-"trick" which seemed to work for some people, but without any luck on my side).

Happened for me as well.
My advice - in this fight forget about auto-lock, it will make you aim around his head or shoulder which is not what you want. Simply take out your magnum or submachine, aim somewhere around his weak spot, spray bullets (submachine) or take a precise shot (magnum) and hope for the best (you must hit the weak spot - bullets can't penetrate his fingers). Dodge his dark energy bolts, use boulders to hide from his earthquake attack and try to feed him bullets just after he tries this one.
In the last sequence (the last bullet you need to feed him with) for some reason on the first try my agent refused to bend low enough to aim at the hidden weak spot or simply I was too dependent on auto-lock which I used for the entire game - so use the 'arena' sequence to practice manual aiming upwards and downwards. Worked in the second try (a couple more bullets on the 'arena' and then submachine).
If you don't have submachine and\or magnum, i suggest replaying earlier chapters and picking those (A snack for Willie and Map to Psychic Spot A subquests). Crimson Red suit will also be really helpful.

This part is the problem. If I´m standing on its shoulder I´m completely unable to aim below in the direction towards my feet - there the spot to hit is situated. What makes it more ridiculess is the fact, that I can clearly focus the spot in unarmed first person view. But the moment I grab a gun, my aiming is restricted to the focus of the shoulder-camera and keeps to the neck-region of the Boss, because thats what is situated in front of the avatar. It´s absolutely annoying and I really don´t know, what to do on this point. Why on earth is the combat camera in this port such a mess?!

Be sure not to auto-lock when you are on his shoulder, even for a second. Take out your gun and try to aim manually as soon as you climb his hand. It took me one or two times to make the character take the right spot, but it's possible. Climb - gun - mouse down - spray bullets- repeat if fail - that's how I took him down and God, that felt good.
If nothing else helps, hide behind a boulder and practice manual aiming :)

Ok, I did it. Pew. Alongside with the Meatcircus in Psychonauts this scene is now on the top of my Most Frustrating Controll Issues in Games I Really Love - list. It becomes even more frustrating than you compare it to the smooth aiming in the original X-Box release during this bossfight as you can see it on YT.

For whose also struggeling: the Submachine gun is your friend. Then I climbed the shoulder, I faced the neck, pulled the SMG, focused the neck with the Right Mouse Button and forced the character to look as far as possible to the left. Do this immediately after you regain controll, because there is only a very short time frame for this. And than as was suggested - spray bullets (the Magnum wont do it, because you never get a clear mark on the target). Second try did it for me. Good luck.

Otherwise great, bittersweet game! Besides the technical issues with this port here and there I am still very happy it was ported. Thanks to the developers - unforgetable experience which managed to trigger my soft spots perfectly. I wasnt crushed and happy like this at the same time since - well, since Twin Peaks :)

!!!SPOILERS!!!
Now try Map to Psychic Spot C. You'll have to fight all those big assholes again. IN A ROW. And without Crimson Red.
I have no problem up until second-to-last stage. That annoying QTE fest kills me every time :(

Thanks, but I don´t feel masochistic enough for this at the moment :) The overall mood at the end of this unforgetable game touched my masochistic side well enough, so I´m satisfied now.

That wasn't the worst part, at least for me :) Actually I found last stage of the last battle pretty amusing, mostly due to the end boss appearance. I mean, come on! Where else can you see something like that? :)
On the other hand, a certain chace with 5 QTEs in a row (fail one and you're dead), now that' almost nade me rage-quit :) Still, I love this game.
Sorry for necro, but this turns up in Google searches for this issue.

The only thing that ended up working for me was changing the settings (disable DPfix + set 98/ME compatibility) to get aim to work. And yes, re-doing that *(&$^%ing stair chase.

I put a vid on youtube ('Deadly Premonition: Last Boss Aim Bug Fix (spoilers)') that I can't post here, that illustrates the issue.
