The first game has widescreen support up to 4k but I noticed this one does not reach 4k and sticks at 4:3 only. Is there a way to get the game to run in widescreen like the first game, Any help would be great! Thanks.

PCGamingWiki says there is a way to set custom resolution using start parameters

Did try this last night, no luck. game crashes when I load a mission.

The games internal resolution only hits 2000 by 1500 or something like that and wont go any higher. It seems that I need to do 1920 x 1080 to get the resolution to sorta match the first game but does not look as sharp on my 4k monitor.

Gonna have to live with it lol

I can't get the first game to do it either.
Does this game have under additional executables DirectX settings like the other game?
I got the first game to work by disabling the maintain aspect ration under additional settings.

Nope, I found out the first one was worked on to have 4k support and this one was not. I hope they will give this game the same support and update it to have 4k resolutions like the first one. Hope they did not get lazy and just said eh its fine the way it is.

Actually, there is one more thing you could try.
How about using a wrapper to run this game with proper resolution? Of course, it won't look as nice as native support, although you could help yourself by making picture a little bit stretched.

I found that DGVooDoo works fine with DD.
