Simple question.
I am thinking about buying it and would like to know what kind of treatment does it get here compared to Steam. Are updates as regular as there? Is it missing content? Is release date here weeks or month after Steam one?
The game looks really great but I wouldn't like to be stuck with inferior version and lower quality and support.

I don't know if the game is DRM-free on other marketplaces. If it is important to you that you can play your games after the end of civilization (or the end of Steam) you should take DRM into consideration.

Now to your questions:
- I would say Motion Twin (the devs) have literally abandoned us, but they were never here to begin with! If you go and dig a little through this subforum, you will find lots of feedback (like it is requested in the in development FAQ) but not a single reply by the devs. As far as we know, they do not care about us.
- The Updates on Steam happen very frequent but have some unpleasant bugs (or so I have heard). The Updates on GOG have happened about every 2 weeks on average but had stopped between the update on January 10 and the one today (link to the full update history). On the flip side I do not remember ever running into a game breaking bug.
- As far as I can tell we get the same version numbers (and content), but you will only get what Motion Twin consider stable releases on GOG. If you want nightly builds Steam would be the place to go.
- I cannot comment on the quality of Dead Cell's "support", as I never had to write a ticket for this game specifically, but GOG's support as a whole is alright. However, if you will ever have to write a ticket, you will probably only ever talk to someone from GOG's support team - not with employees of Motion Twin directly.

I hope this helps you to decide which version you want but from your initial questions it sounds like you'll want the Steam version.
Alternatively, you can wait for the full release version, which will not be missing any kind of content. ;)

Oh, and before I forget: Maybe wait for some more replies to your post before you make your purchasing decision and also ask the Steam community as well to get the full picture.

Either way, I'm sure you'll enjoy Dead Cells, because all my complaints aside it is still a good game. ;)

P.S.: I just noticed your forum title "Stop resetting my location!" If you want that fixed you'll have to write a ticket to GOG's support about it. The web development team knows what causes the bug but won't fix it because there aren't enough users complaining about it. I'm not exaggerating.

Thanks for your feedback.
I am not at all concerned about new In Dev builds as I don't play unfinished games. I will only play it when it's out and fully done. Only reason I want to buy it now is that it's getting closer to release and it will probably get more expensive when it is out.
I wanted to know because most likely they are going to treat it here after release the same way.
I don't need them to post here on the forums to address my concerns, I can search for things I need help with, but what I want is to be sure I will get all patches and additional content and won't be stuck with some torso of what is available elsewhere.
I prefer to buy here over Steam but I admit I am reluctant with new games as I am afraid I'll get shafted and will regret it.

I am inclined to risk it here but am still a bit doubtful.

That's just dumb. I am not one to write to support (I think I did it once here so far over the course of 8 years I am here) but I might just do it for the sake of it. But honestly it would have to be a big number of complaints to make them take an action IMO and considering in what state this whole forum is currently I don't think it can be ever achieved.
I hear you but to be honest... with early access games it's always a bit of a gamble. Overall the early reviews have been very kind to Dead Cells and it seems to be generally well received, so I think they'll finish the game. My estimate would be 3 to 9 months until then, so we will probably see a sale or two before the final price increase for the full release. If you want to buy it as cheap as possible, now seems to be a good time. (Unless you can wait really long - or borrow GOG's time machine.)

I can tell you that the game in its current state has already been good value for me personally but not knowing you I couldn't tell you if you would feel the same. All the replies from current players will be biased, so the best advice I could give you would be to read/view some professional reviews online and make an educated guess if you would like the game and the direction it is heading into right now.

As for GOG... I have written about 70 questions, suggestions, complaints and bug reports since I've joined. You might draw your own conclusions what I think about the "current" state of the site.

If that is the issue, you could also buy the game and just not download the installer. Usually you can just refund any game you have bought but not yet downloaded.
