As a Linux user, I am a bit disappointed that there are no Linux (Ubuntu) version, considering that there exist a Mac version (O/S also based on Gnome ...)

I am wondering if anyone as tried to run the game with Wine (PlayOnLinux) on Ubuntu, and how does it work compared to windows?

Thanks.

I have read people mentioning it works well on wine but I have no experience with that.

macOS has nothing todo with Gnome. It's a re-branded NeXTSTEP which based up on FreeBSD.

Your system should be fine.
I use PlayOnMac 5.0 alpha 2 to play few games from gog.com

I played it with Wine and worked but the humans and animals where invisible.

It seems to be a problem if you use mesa <19.

I'll try tomorrow to run it under FreeBSD, where I have a newer mesa version.

I am using an Intel GPU tho
I can confirm: I upgraded to mesa 18.3.4 and the characters are not invisible anymore. Tried on FreeBSD too. It runs as well as in windows.
