Hello there. I'm having a slight issue with darkstone that I do not know how to solve. Currently, I'm able to play the game just fine (with the -sortbyz cmd parameter), but I can't use any spells or skills effectively (or, at all, rather), leaving me with just a hack and slash type game. I can select skills to put on the bar/slot just fine, but it'll almost immediately scroll up (to whatever number is above that), remove the skill that was on the slot and just keep on scrolling through the numbers infinitely. It only happens on the currently selected character.
No posts in this topic were marked as the solution yet. If you can help, add your reply
I also ran into this problem on my windows 8 laptop. Try running the game in widows compatibility mode( there are some tutorials on the internet on how to do that so a quick internet search will help). Hope this helps!
Yep, same issue here. Does anyone has a solution ?
I have the same problem and i cant find a solution.

I start the game over GoG Galaxy, i try every compatibility mode and close all my Programms before start. Then i try the dgvoodoo2 with no solution. I want to play/stream the game but it doesnt work without the annoying clicking sound from the spellbar . :(

Is it normal that i didn't see the Intro?

Have You tried bonding the spell/skill to the number slots? if u dont know how u have to shift+click while the number slot is opened. i dont know if that helped or not. I am using the CD copy of the game.
I've been having this problem for years no matter what I do, installed through different sources, on different computers, different windows installs, it ALWAYS happens. makes the game unplayable. not just because of the relentlessly irritating noise that makes me want to claw my ears off but also because it removes a crucial game mechanic.

I can't believe that there is even anyone who can play the game normally given that it always happens on any PC/windows I've installed it to.
I wonder if people are doing something differently?

I have mine installed outside of the C drive, if that helps.
Otherwise, I don't have any new information to share.
But I can't believe there isn't a fix/patch.

Um, I actually do know of ONE solution - very low tech. Use a mouse without a scroll wheel. It seems to be an issue with the scroll wheel on USB mice that causes the problem. So if you can switch, just while you play the game - or even unplug the mouse and just use a controller, the scrolling stops instantly. It's annoying as all heck, I know, but until someone can figure out a way around it more permanently, at least the game is playable again.
I seem to recall this issue in the back of my memory. Does alt+tabbing in and out fix it?

Also, add -32bit to your shortcut's parameters.

Thread necro, but I was also having this problem suddenly, while in the past I had never had this problem. I discovered that it had something to do with background programs running- In my case, I had "ScreenToGif" and "DisplayFusion" running in the little icon tray on my taskbar where you click the up-arrow button there to show them, as pictured. I right-click exited these programs and now no longer have this issue. Perhaps it has something specifically to do with any "background" program that is related to multiple monitor setups or running in the background of another program, such as screen-to-gif in my case. Try disabling such programs and see if it works then.

I have a same problem while playing the game, but I don't have the background program you had running.

No offence though, just let you know.
