I had just started game 2 with the same characters when my came did a ctd.

After that I was unable to get the game to start until I set it to "run as administrator." At that point the game became functional again, but my two characters and my game saves are gone from the the relevant folders.

I'm sure there's no fix, since it's all gone, apparently. But just in case I've made a mistake, could someone confirm where the game saves would be on a Vista 64 system?

EIDT: Also, in the Darkstone temp folder, there are numeroud files that are obviously game saves, made on the days I was playing the game, with the file extension .SAV. However, these cannot be accessed through the game itself. Any ideas about whether I can move these into the saves folder? They are only 5KB files.

EDIT AGAIN: I went back in to get more information about these files, and they're gone now. Very strange. I guess this one will just remain a mystery.

Ok, some further information. Maybe someone has some knowledge about compatibility issues.

I originally did not run the game as administrator. When it crashed and would not launch any more, I switched over to "use as admin." When I did that the game saves disappeared.

If i right-click on the Darkstone program, I can see the file location. If I am running the program as administrator, my game saves do not appear.

If I do not run the game as administrator, the game saves are NOT in the game save file, but I can see them listed if I click on an icon at the top of the window that says "Compatibility Files." This icon is beside the icons labelled , Organize, Views, Burn, etc. This icon does not appear when I am running the game as administrator.

Obviously the game saves I made are not compatible with running the game as administraator.

Is there any way to fix this?
