So playing Darkstar One, and it loads fine, runs fine, up until a certain point- Tutorial Mission 3, bring cargo to another system...

I Make a jump, and it sticks on 'System Loading' for ..well. Ever. I got bored of hearing the sound effect after 30 minutes, tried to run it as XP Compatibile, as an Admin, nothing changed it. System Loading, forever.

I'm on Windows 7, and I only saw one other person with this issue via google, and to my knowledge, there wasn't a fix for them either..

Unfortunately this is known complete showstopper bug that occasionally appears and short of re-installing the ENTIRE game will fix it. It seems some people never get the bug and are able to play through the entire game, others it appears completely randomly and locks up in an infinite loading cycle during travel to different star systems.

In all honesty, the game developers knew about this problem but never fixed it - with this class of bug, it should have never hit the stores.

(in fact, I honestly don't think even re-installing the game might fix it because DSo tends to cause lots of bugs and corruption)

I just tested it, re-installing DSo and still no dice. Basically, the only way to play the game again would be to do a full re-install of the operating system as it most likely caused some corruption of system files. I vaguely remember back in the old Ascalon forums that this was actually a very common problem - so basically, if you have this issue - your pretty much screwed.
Just wanted to add some information regarding this problem.

I have played Darkstar One twice before, never finished. I downloaded and installed today via GOG Galaxy, and mission 3 I get the jump bug. Never had this before ever. Running on Windows 10 32 bit. The other two games were on Win 7 32 bit and as I said before, no problem.

I uninstalled and reinstalled, same error. I loaded an old save game several missions ahead of mission three, same error. I uninstalled and downloaded clean without GOG Galaxy, same error. Oh well, guess I will have to find a copy on ebay on X360......

I was never able to get past the tutorial - the ship simply would not move and tech support couldn't help.
Try this:

Some resolutions crash the game • Link

Darkstar One may crash when using certain resolutions due to bundling an outdated version of iphlpapi.dll.

Delete Darkstar One's iphlpapi.dll[2]

Go to the installation folder.
Delete or rename iphlpapi.dll
Darkstar One will now use Windows' version of this file instead.

Wow, you really patiented for 30 minutes?! I pressed Alt F4 within a few minutes. :-3

@TsukasaHiiragi (I see that you are "from United States", so why are you pretending to be japanese?)
"reinstall the ENTIRE game"?
"DSO tends to cause lots of bugs and corruption"?
"do a full reinstall of the operating system"?
"it most likely caused some corruption of system files"?
"you're pretty much screwed"?
Are you out of your mind?!
Why do you scare players with such nonsense?

@Beasantn
Yeah, I read PCGamingWiki and did this too but that didn't solve the issue.
Did it for you?

@Everyone
I am here because I encountered the same endless loading system jump bug in the original game from here and looked for a fix.
I consulted PCGamingWiki, I tried the fix shared by Beasantn, that didn't work.
I downloaded the hotfix patch from PCGW, that didn't work either.
I looked in forums, I read a bunch of horror stories but I didn't reinstall the game, nor reinstall Windows 10 like the american-otaku-wannabe-japanese above told to do both in GOG and Steam forums...
Then I checked Nexus Mods and found a massive mod by Norbert.
I downloaded it and activated it in the game, then I started a new game and so far there is no more issue so I'm going to share it with you.
Alright, here we go:

1) First, download and install the mod:
https://www.nexusmods.com/darkstarone/mods/2

2) Second, if you play in english, then patch the mod in english:
https://www.nexusmods.com/darkstarone/mods/3

3) Third, the mod lets us customize the game as we please, open the mod's folder then the scripts folder then the Options.lua text file then read and follow the instructions to the letter to tailor your game to your tastes and save.

4) Final, (re)discover and enjoy your brand new personalized galactic adventure!
