I'm actually a ways in to the original release, the Wii U version, but I haven't played it in over a year I think, so starting over wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

From the reviews though it sounds like this isn't actually upgraded, and in fact is broken right now.

Was wondering if I should just delete my backed up copy of the PC/GOG original, and maybe even start over on this, but now...it almost sounds like I'd be fine just continuing on in the Wii U one, and keeping my backed up copy of the original GOG release too?

Upgraded or not, there are (as you can probably see from some of the threads here) that the Deathinitive Edition is currently a bit broken. A lot of people are suffering a game ending bug when entering Shadow Gorge (myself included), on top of a few other bits of poor optimisation (stuttering and frame rate drops, for example)

So... long story short, I'd stick with the original for the moment. I can see little point in scrapping your progress (or even restarting), only to get about three hours in and be forced to stop.
So, after all this time is the remaster still broken? Planning on starting this in a few days, but sounds like the original is the way to go.

A patch fixed Shadow Gorge but broke all controller prompts.

Original version is still unbroken, so if you have that it is superior.
I cannot speak about the original because I'm not have it, but in ther Deathnitive Edtition, The Light of the Fallen sidequest is broken, and also have the Kartinos bug.
Thanks for the answers, no need to bother with the remaster then...
you should definitely play the original ;)

normaly i have no problem if games are kinda buggy because most devs try to fix stuff asap and are community friendly

but nordic kinda abandoned the remaster ... there is no sign @ the horizon that there will be a new patch any time soon

screw them hard because you cant buy the original since they released the broken remastered version with no intend to fix it
